I am going to France to watch a few stages of the tour de France and am looking for a camp site close to Megeve, and surrounding areas.
I know I have rather left it last minute, and I have just emailed a couple of places I found described in another post from a few weeks ago but just thought i'd ask again if anyone had any recommendations.
I have just emailed Camping Le Grand Champ and Camping le giffre both in the local area but I have not stayed on a French site for years. Any other advice about camping abroad also welcome eg about electric hook-ups as I have a UK one but wonder if they are the same abroad? I know that is probably a stupid question but I have only just got a hook up preferring more wild camping or just stuck in a time warp:) Thanks
Dorothy

Hi maybe email the local tourism office in regards to campsites, I have emailed heaps of them and they normally get back to me within a day, they are very helpful. Mick

There's a nice no frills site at Praz sur Arly - 3/4 km down the road. Called Gai Sejour. Not reviewed on here.
If you fancy that one, it is between Megeve and Praz. Turn off at the sawmill and it is there after 500 yards. Not far from Intermarche supermarket. Old but very clean sanitary facilities. Lovely walks from the site.

From memory Dorothy, you will need a French 2 pin adapter - short length of cable with a uk female end and a French two pin plug on the other end. Widely available on line or take the bits with you and add the two pin end when you get there.
We know Megeve well (ski there regularly) so ask away if there's anything else springs to mind.
