Decided to dot all the i's and booked Gayeulles this morning for a bit of peace of mind and just so we know where we are heading for.
Costing us 24 euros each way.
Defo taking the bike as well.
Anyone happen to know if we need an adapter for Gayeulles???
Many thanks for all the advice

Best get one just in case then - I suppose might need one even if not needed now at Gayeulles or Logis just in case we end up getting diverted.
Weather is expected to be Scorchio in the Charante this week (35 degrees).
Frannyann, what did you think of this site? I'm just looking at it for this year.
Can you walk to a village or anything just outside of the site? We usually like to have a walk out at night, maybe for dinner and a drink.
Is there any entertainment?
Has anyone got any tips on which part of the site to stay on? We prefer sunny not shadey pitches and we have a large caravan so would need a big pitch. Also wondering whether we should book through the CC. My only concern for this site is it looks like it's a rally field.
We knew it as a small farm site 40 years ago - pitched camp in the meadow after the hay was cut. Out of curiosity we called in to look at it many years later and it was indeed just as you say. Long rows of big British caravans in straight lines up and down a wide open field though the farther woodland area is the more attractive.
No I haven't written a review - we didn't stay. But it's clear that other people love it for its sheer Britishness.
We chose the site as we thought it would be good for our kids to have British kids to play with. I really liked the site, as we had a great pitch next to the play park, so could watch our 4 year old from the comfort of our pitch.
It was our first time camping in France, so I had nothing to compare it too, but we found it really chilled out. We had a shady pitch, which we needed as the weather was in the 30s. We took bikes, which were great for cycling into the village for the bakery and little Spar type shop. If you want to eat out, then you'd need to go into one of the little local towns - Palais Sur Mer was lovely. We didn't enjoy the traffic in the area in mid August and my daughter moaned about the heat, so we are trying Brittany this year. Without our cantankerous teenager, we would defo go again.
Book with the CC if you've still got to buy your Ferry as you get a further discount on the Ferry if you add a site or 7 Camping Cheques! Then contact the site directly by email and asked them about your pitch - we asked for shady by the play park and that's exactly what we got.
There are sunny pitches out on the open field which are in rows but there are also some lovely pitches amoungst the trees. Maybe look on Google Earth.
There's no entertainment but the restaurant looked really nice on site - we BBQd every night. There was a restaurant outside the main gates but we didn't try it.

Hi Grumble I assumed you were keen for a reply as you'd posted twice, but not sure you've returned and read them?
Thought I'd bump them to the top again.
