I am thinking of spending the winter in Spain. Does anybody know where all the Brit Motor Homers go?

Do you want to be with them or avoid them? If it's the former then try La Manga ? There are about 500 Brits on 800 pitches there. Heaven or hell?

Benidorm has loads of motorhomes over winter, sites are usually near full capacity.

Same here... Looking for an overwinter in Spain, and we are looking to AVOID them (too many brits, anyway)

Not done it before so looking for a reasonably priced site on the coast ACSI would be great, anywhere from Gibraltar eastwards or perhaps even the Atlantic coast Cadiz? if the weather is reasonable

Any one any suggestions?

We did down the east, along the South and up the West last winter, didn't do La Manga as the reviews are not so good, stayed a month on Los Gallardos which is like a mini England, we went there for the bowling but the site is like a shanty town with the long termers and their 'add-ons' to their tourers. Needless to say I don't think we will be back. We clocked lots of sites along the routes we took with not a lot of people on them. Most sites we went on had Brits on but not in great amounts, mostly Dutch and German overwintering unless it was a site that was hosting a Brit rally, Almafra near Benidorm was one and Marjal Costa Blanca although the rally only had about ten caravans and they had their own area

Almafra is not ACSI and yes it was full, we got the last pitch and could only stay five days!

Most of the coastal sites are busy with long term winter stayers - would say most have a equal number of Brits, Germans, Dutch and French with lesser numbers of Scandinavians.

We found the sites around Cadiz region much quieter, Camping La Aldea is not overly busy in the week but fills up with Spanish weekenders for the festivals most weekends.

There are several sites open around the Conil De La Frontera area - we found most had plenty of space but it is much quieter as many places are closed for the winter - several sites to choose from Camping Roche was one of the better ones.

If you aren't too worried about being right on the beach then would recommend a small British owned site Finca De Piedra - like a CL, well run, 10 minutes walk into the village and less than 15-20 minutes drive to the beach and Malaga and Marbella.

If you are going as far as Cadiz then Portugal is worth considering as there are plenty of good sites, mostly not ACSI but prices in the same region as most offer good reductions for the longer term winter stays.

C&CC have just released their winter rally book, whilst we don't rally it is useful for en route sites to use for a trip down southern Spain or Portugal

Los Madriles in Murcia is a lovely site, with heated outdoor and indoor pools. Another one we liked is Los Escullos, a short walk from stunning coastal scenery. In the Conil de la Frontera area we've stayed at both Camping Roche and Camping Pinar San Jose and much preferred the latter.

Pinar San Jose was very good, spacious with good sized pitches, free wifi which was good all around the site and free TV. Excellent dog walk out the back gate straight into the national park, good supermarket at the front of the site, easy walk to a lovely sandy beach, would definitely recommend it
