Hi

We are travelling down from calais to sant pere pescador, towing our caravan for the first time.
For this first time we are looking for the easiest route possible, to ease us in gently, it looks like there is a choice of 3.
I would just like some up to date info on the route that caravan towers tend to prefer.

Thanks in advance

We have done both the A20 West route and the A75 East route towing a trailer tent and for us there is not a lot in it.
Calais, Abeville, Rouen, Chartres, Vierzon then the E or W route.
The East route has slightly steeper descents and climbs.

The easiest way is motorway all the way - even though that means using one of the various Paris ring roads and paying 250 euros for the two way journey. Others will disagree .

I would avoid Paris Autoroutes, We always used to go A26, A31, A6, A7, A9. But the lower end can get busy this time of year. Some might say your going a bit too far east, but it worked. That was, of course, before the Milau bridge.

I too would avoid Paris ring roads, espesially in your first trip towing, it can be like "Whacky Races"
Agree with nafuk, you could go down one route, and come back the other.

We too are travelling down to Sant Pere Pescador in a weeks time staying at Las Dunas. We intend going the Rouen, Chartres route then rejoin the autoroute and stop in Clermont Ferrand overnight. Looking forward to going over the Millau Bridge.
Have a safe trip down. 😎

My route suggestion avoids Paris and is only 20 min slower.

If you are staying south of San Pere Pescador and want to avoid going over the quite narrower bridge in San Pere that leads to the campsites just south of it (e.g. L'Amfora, Aquarius etc.):
1. on the AP7 toll Spanish motorway take exit 4.
2. take the 3rd exit on the roundabout after the pay booth.
3. bear right onto the C31 road.
4. exit the C31 after passing over the Flavia river; 2 exits after Vilacolum exit/for 624 road.
5. go right around the roundabout and over the C31 and turn left.
6. After 100yds turn right towards L'Armentera and follow signs for San Pere.
7. After about 5 miles you come out at the roundabout on the south side of the San Pere narrow bridge.
7. Turn fight at this roundabout for L'amfora, Aquarous etc campsites.
