Any recommendations for good lakes suitable for a gentle paddle in our inflatable canoe? We have done Le Tedey and loved it , and may return. We prefer a lake rather than a river as not keen on transporting canoe back to start or paddling upstream.

Hi anne44,
You don't say where you are looking ( I presume in France ), or when you are going. It will be easier for people to recommend if they have a better idea of both of these things.
In the meantime and in the absence of either of the above have a look at Lac d'Orient near Troyes. There is a Kawan site across the road from the lake and a lake beach and the site has indoor and outdoor pools. Nice flat area for cycling as well. Couple of photos attached.

There are river places where the current is so slow as to make no difference in either direction .... e.g. from Camping Floiras Base Nautique ... see my review.
Also other areas ... look at the marvels of the multi canal system of the Marais Poitevin (Green Venice) .... fantastic for canoes/kayaks (I go nearly every year) ... then there are lots of stops along the various canal systems, (such as the Midi Canal) that allow paddling in either direction with no current penalty.
You can check out my review of the campsite at Lincou, on the Tarn, which allows paddling both ways due to the dam.
I'll second Lac D'Orient, lovely site, beautiful lake. Also the Grand Etang de St Estephe in Dordogne. Not camped on the site next to the lake but had a wonderful day at the lake a few years ago.
