anyone see the article on croatia in the latest CC mag ?

looks very nice and at 1000 miles or so , not much further than S of france.

If i had an extra weeks holiday to play with might be worth a look ....

Croatia is indeed a very beautiful country,crystal clear water,fascinating old towns,lovely climate and good value.

We have been to Croatia for the last 6 years.

In a fast car you can drive down in 3 days/2 nights. Have used both the  France/Germany/Austria/Slovenia route and the France/Germany Austria/Italy route. If your vehicle does not like BIG hills use the latter.

The camp sites are excellent, as most of the campers are Germans/Dutch/Italians who demand very high standards.

Would recommend some of the smaller camp sites on the islands for peace and quiet or the bigger mainland sites for facilities like swimming pools and entertainment.

thinking of flying down to croatia and than camping without a car - anyone any ideas about a camp site, and is it single parent friendly ?

Very nice country to visit, but we found it very busy in August. I think all of the Netherlands, Germany and Austria had decamped there. EHU's tend to be the German connection.
Avoid the west coast of the Istrian peninsula at that time of year. The east coast was not as busy, but the sites are not really organised. It is a question of pitch where you can, but don't be surprised to find VERY close neighbours. Personal space does not seem to be a Croatian custom.
I loved it for the diving and we had a trip down to Rab island, which was busy, but worth a visit.
Roll on retirement and hols in September.
