Been to La Beaume today and still plenty of (warm) water in the river. Fantastic swimming, and perhaps the best suggestion given that there is a bar/restaurant nearby, an ice cream seller, and beautiful scenery.
We had no problems parking in one of the small car parks down at the bottom of the village this lunchtime at 12.30pm.
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!

Yes, I'd forgotten just how lovely it was. It's still rather busier than we're used to - probably much quieter next week as our campsite is virtually emptying as I type, because it's mainly French people who are going home this weekend.
Well we are back from our short holiday in the Ardeche. It was much hotter than the two of us old folks would normally choose, but my daughter and partner and the children loved it.
We visited the beach at the Pont d'Arc. Wow, what a magnet for visitors. The last time we were there was 10 years ago in early June on a chilly overcast day. There was us and very few others!
But the water was warm, everyone had a swim and a paddle and a play in the sand and a fun time was had by all. The walk back to the car park in the baking sun was one I would not want to repeat very soon though.
Amanda, we did not visit La Beaume, it was another car journey too far. But I have it marked on the atlas for another time and as my daughter and partner loved the area so much I am pretty sure when the little one is a bit older we will visit again.

Second La Beaume, although when we went last year we couldn't get into the village in our car, there was a free courtesy bus from a car park just outside the village instead. Balazuc is also nice, as is Vogue. Not sure exactly where you are staying, but if you're close to Vallon you can park at one of the car parks on the main gorge road and walk down to the beach at the Pont d'Arc. Gets quite busy but there is access to the beaches on both sides of the river and a van selling refreshments as well.
I couldn't understand why you were all recommending 'La Beaume' since our sat nav and map checks show it to be 165km (and a three hour drive) from Vallon, where we are currently staying in the Ardeche.
I've just realised, you must mean Labeaume, which is a more doable 14.6 km away!

Will definitely visit.
Good point. And I try so hard to be careful about spellings!

We enjoyed a lovely visit to Labeaume this morning. Maybe more of a sweaty uphill struggle than a leisurely stroll but well worth it; the place is stunningly beautiful.
There's more riverbed than river right now but we're not complaining!
