Not sure if I'm posting in the right forum because I know they're British, but they're almost abroad!
I'm thinking it might be good to do our big family holiday on Guernsey or Jersey next year. I fancy a campsite with a pool (but preferably not a big Haven type site), and I thought we might get good weather there, plus I've never been, and the ferry might be a bit of an adventure for the kids.
I've tried to get some ferry quotes, but failed miserably!
Just wondered if anyone has any tips for ferry crossings for a family of 4, with a trailer. We are from near Manchester, so ideally a crossing from somewhere northern would be good, but I think they're all from the south coast aren't they?
Does anyone know roughly how, much this might cost in peak summer season?

Condor Ferries - run from Poole and Portsmouth to both Jersey and Guernsey. Their current prices on their website (sit down before you look) . Limited number of campsites but Google knows them all in each island and will tell you of them.
More choice of sites if you go just a little bit further to the French mainland landing at St Malo. Ferries to there are also from Portsmouth - with Brittany Ferries - but equally dear in mid summer I fear.

Thank you.
Just had a look, managed to get some sample prices and thought to myself 'Hmmm £211 for a family of 4 - that's not bad"
Then realised that was only the outward journey and return for some reason costs twice as much! LOL

Just check that you have full travel insurance, as the Channel Isles are not in the UK, so will only offer emergency health care, and this does not include repatriation back to the UK.

We roam far and wide when we pick a site. I always fear the islands are too small, especially Guernsey, unless for just a few days.

Condor, or Conned 'Or, ferries who service the Channel Islands are a total joke. They are using a ferry, the Condor Liberation, or better known as the Constipation, which is not fit for the route.
Also, the company doesn't care about its customers, check the "Travel" section of the JerseyEveningPost online.
