Hi,

Just returned from a site near Royan (L'oree Du Bois - review posted) but don't want to have to drive so far next year but still want the weather!

We would like a campsite that has a good pool with slides, a good children's playground and also entertainment in the evenings and possible activities for the kids to do (Aged 5 & 8 next year)

We will be camping in our tent and do not necessarily need a site near to the beach but would like decent enough weather (if you can ever predict it!) so not too far north,

Many thanks in advance

Aine

Have a look at the sites around Lac du Jaunay. They are about 15 minutes drive to the beaches but being slightly inland means you get (generally) larger pitches and more space around the site.
We've stayed at La Guyonniere and La Ferme du Latois. Very little to choose between them. I think La Guyonniere is a bigger site but the pool complex is a bit better. It also has goats which the kids loved feeding and they are the main reason they keep asking me if we can go back!
However La Ferme du Latois was quieter, had a bit more open space and slightly larger pitches, although both sites had large to very large pitches.
I think La Guyonniere has more evening entertainment.

Pin Parasol is a lovely site, but the pool is too small for the size of it. We've just come back and there were days where it was bordering on dangerous to be honest, which is a shame as it's by far the nicest site we've been on otherwise.

We went a couple of years to Les Ecureuils at St Hilaire de Riez and that's a lovely little site, but has a good pool complex, fab play area, just across the road from the beach...can't comment on entertainment because we don't go in for that sort of thing.

We are currently at Camping Bellevue at Saint Christophe du Ligneron, our first time here and we like it.
Pitches huge 200sq m, very nice owners. Nice pool and children's play area, fishing, snack bar , take away and wifi on whole site.
Not many British on site, which is good, if that is what you like.
In July/Aug something on every night, but French.
20 mins to beaches or to St Gilles or St Jean de Monts.
We have stayed at other sites in this area, in summer they are almost exclusively occupied by British families, depends what you like.

We went to the yelloh village La Litterol this year, which is in the Vandee about 3 hours south of St Malo. Lovely site big pitches, we have a Maritsa 700 and there was plenty of room for our tent. The pools are great outdoors and indoors. Also there is a new splash room with water squirting out all over but no standing water so very safe for little ones. There are also slides. There is a bouncy castle, play area and kid clubs. The site also has access to the beach, however it is all rocks and pebbles. The site offers a free bus to the local sandy beach or you can drive yourself about 10 minutes away with free parking, we even rode our bikes down there one day as the cycle paths are fantastic. Entertainment most nights in French and English. Great campsite will definitely be going back.

Just back from La Garangeoire for the second year. It is a very English campsite with Irish, Dutch as well. It is in lovely setting and we like the big pitches. The washrooms are well maintained. There are two pools, one covered, and a separate one with 3 slides. The weather this year was very good. Up to 30 degrees most days and no mossies. The weather is less predictable in this area than further south. There is lots to do in the area as well as some lovely beaches.
There is a, kids club as well as lots of activities you can pick and choose. My 8 year old did the football clu b this year. There are stables and pony rides, fishing lakes with canoes and pedalos, there is a lagoon area with a beach which is lovely too. There are pedal go karts.
There is some sort of entertainment each evening.
It is a very relaxed family atmosphere.

We have stayed here and had 2 fab holiday's meeting British, Dutch and French campers and my teenage son loved this site as there is lots for them to do, play football in the enclosed pitches, table tennis, water slides, 2 outdoor pools and one indoor pool. We booked direct with no problems. You can cycle or walk to the beach. The centre of St Jean de Monts is a short drive away with lots of supermarkets to chose from and a lovely long promenade and ice cream parlours etc.,
