Hi all
I am beginning to think I am looking for the impossible site. We ideally want a site that isn't all singing all dancing, just the basics e.g. electricity/showers/toilets with views of the mountains and the chance to have a spacious pitch that isn't within half a meter of another unit. So, am I looking for the impossible in this area?
Done so much searching I'm going bog-eyed!
Thanks

Hi Val
Thanks for that - I have trawled through Bienvenue already. I think we were spoilt in Switzerland and I'm having trouble as I'm comparing everything to the site we stayed at there. Sadly it's too expensive for us to return there, so I am looking for the french alternative!

If it's the one I saw I think that has over 100 pitches and we are looking for something less commercialised, but thank you - all suggestions gratefully received!

We used to use Le Versoyen in Bourg-St-Maurice, up to 5 years ago. It was a pretty site, next to a river & large park with walks through it. It is also near to the funicular up the mountain & the supermarket.
We used to hire a static in February for our skiing holiday, (before my non-skiing related accident!) I remember a friendly site with helpful staff, a launderette, stunning location & a short stroll into the very pretty town.
Even in February, there were lots of campervans and caravans.
We stayed at Eden de la Vanoise near Bourg this year. Our pitch was huge and had lovely views. The only negatives were some noise from the road / train line and our pitch didn't have much shade during the day. It's not listed on this site - need to sort that out.

Thank you all so much for taking the time to reply. Noise is a big problem area for us. Currently looking into Lanchette. Bigger than we would normally go for but they have offered us a pitch in a quieter end of the site. Any thoughts?

It has now changed its name/ownership but on its website it looks similar to when we stayed there. It is about 10 miles from Chamonix but it has good road links.
The fact that it is not in Chamonis means it has has more room. It is set in a large valley and had large pitches divided by hedges. There is a lovely public lake set in grounds just outside the gate. It was not "all-singing" but we found it more than adequate and with friendly, helpful staff.
