I was just going to mention that one - a Castels and Camping site - and open when you want. There is also a municipal site in Chatellrault.
If you get further south Les Peupliers at Couhe is a pleasant site for an overnight (or longer) stop. We have friends in the area and 'park' our caravan there whilst visiting them.
Do check that they are open though - as I mentioned in another thread we've found two sites, now, which are closing earlier than their published dates.

It might be if the internet information is not accurate. It is not unknown for municipals to close early if there are no campers or leave a note on the closed gate requiring potential campers to ring a number & then somebody will turn up when they have finished mowing the grass in another part of the town.
Thanks folks.
I did look at Le Petit Trianon but one reviewer said he struggled to get his motorhome through the tight gateway so thought that we might struggle with our van 7.48 mtrs but then its not me driving.
I think we will go for St Cyr as we dont want to do more than about 300 miles in a day from Abbeville. Cheers for your replies. J x

The popular Municipal Le Sabot at Azay-Le-Rideau just South of Tours will take you about 15km off your route. The UKCS page has a broken link, instead this link shows current prices and says the site is open until Sep 30.
We used Castel site petit Trianon as overnight both ways this year. Our van is same length as yours & we managed fine just took it slow - it is more the width that is tight but access is straight. Site is lovely as are people that run it. Would recommend.

We stayed here 3 nights this year. Very highly recommended.
