Morning campers!

We've a 1989 vw so ok for a night or 2 in an Aires, with a bucket wash and portaloo but we also like a proper campsite. We mix it up as necessary. For example in Sarlat the aires is central to the town so we'd use that.

Some Aires do cost they aren't all free. On the other hand as has been mentioned you can get amazing bargains on campsites. One August we stayed by a lake, new facilities, big private pitches for 8 euro.

We're off next week and have been fortunate to get 4 weeks off work. OH is keen to spread his wings...or should I say turn the wheels farther afield so Portugal here we come!

Also our VW can go where a car can so win win. Of course it's not without its challenges as the numerous photos of OH tinkering in the engine bay will attest!!!!!

Ewen,
Just skylarking.
There is a chap who wrote a book about travelling the world in a camper with his family. He didn't like the wildcamp phrase so chose to use Free camping which they shortened to Framping. The editor suggested he looked up the meaning of Framping.
he then went back to using wilding

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Framp
Mind you it is probably a more accurate definition

Off grid is a good term. Freedom camping now has negative connotations due to a minority in NZ.

Val, I think they will have an awesome time. We stayed in a hotel one summer some years ago and it was nice. We have just arrived home after staying near Alicante and leaving our caravan in storage there. We came back via the Pyrenees and the road between Huesca and Pau was stunning. I can imagine some of the wild places they might be camping.

I'm interested in Spanish storage, Brian! If possible can you email me on valdaathome at gmail.com with details.

We have our caravan stored on a site in the Ardeche at the moment, until next July, but thereafter are thinking about our options, and it might be nice to have it down in Spain, accessible from our French house in a day perhaps - so that we can have a real alternative to France.
