Yes, the area around the site is flattish - and you can cycle along to various other little places along the coast.
There is a lovely nature reserve at Aguamolls, if you like birds. We had one of the most fantastic days spotting wildlife there. The Greek/Roman remains at Empuries are good too - a Greek jetty out in the sea, and part Roman/part Greek village up the hill. There are some lovely coves along that part of the coast, and St Martin de Empuries is a nice (small) village. You're near enough to the Bay of Roses, so can cycle there for miles around the bay.
I would say to get a 'small' feel, then you would be better choosing a pitch on the outer perimeter of the site. The 'cross' rows in the middle, I think, can feel a bit hemmed in. The nicest sanitary block is the one on the southern boundary of the site, new and sparkling with very good quality fixtures and fittings. On the 'plan' of the campsite it's at the top of the page, and I think the best pitches are those in the top right hand corner as you look at the map.
