Can only echo what Val said, the Spanish have a different schedule to us, they typically go for evening meals at 9pm or 10pm. And if you want complete silence after 10pm, Germany or Switzerland is the place to go.

I agree it's a cultural thing. Here in France things don't usually start until 9 pm and then go on and on until the early hours. We were recently invited to a 50th birthday celebration and were some of the first when we arrived just after nine. Guests then came over the next hour and we started eating about 10 pm. We chickened out at 3.30am deciding not to wait for the dessert. They were still going strong.

Not sure if you know.....But Biarritz is in France!
Anyway, I knew this would raise the "kids just want to have fun brigade" but children aged 3 to 6, a guess, running around screaming and shouting until passed midnight, and parents even noisier until around 1:30 is not my idea of fun. My children were alway taught to respect other people, and they teach our grandchildren to be the same, kids do not need to be blowing off steam at that time of night. I guess you had to be there to experience it, trust me it was not pleasant.
Other posts on this very marvellous forum have been only too quick to criticise Brits for poor campsite etiquette, but mention out of contriol children, and oh my god, out the woodwork they come.
So yes, it will be adults only for us after this trip, so I do not have to put up with other people's ferrel children. Unless of course I take my grand kids away and let them play hide and seek around your pitch after midnight while I drink beer and laughter and shout loudly....Mmmmm, there is an idea.

It's also in the Basque Country, so your neighbours may well have been in their own country (even if not their own EU member state)!

I absolutely love Steak Tartare, anything that takes little cooking! 👍
Also a lot safer than using the Cadac when other people's kids are running onto your pitch.

We always joke about the difference. We can go out for dinner in Hendaye and feel like loud Brits becuase the French hardly make a sound in the restaurants there.
Then get on the water taxi for ice cream to Spain, the difference in noise is dramatic. We end up shouting at each other.
Having said that we often go to a campsite with lots of Spanish families that has a curfew. Sensible curfew, not overly strict. After 12 the campsite does go quiet, even our Spanish neighbours.
