We came back through Calais to the ferry at 10am on a Sunday, no issue's at all, if fact the roads were very quiet indeed.
I was short for time on our way to France and decided not to stop and fill up my motorcycle in Dover like I normally do.
Went into Calais town centre to find a fuel station. This was lunchtime on a Thursday.
While riding around looking for petrol I saw many groups of about 10-15 loitering about.
Even though I was just passing through I felt very uneasy, I can't imagine what the residents and business owners feel like.

For me it's not just the illegal immigrants that cause concern. French lorry drivers, cabbage growers etc etc almost always choose Calais as the place to block the motorway, port entrance etc. to protest about the price of cabbages or life in general. This year again people were delayed for days on end in the summer. Not funny.
We came through yesterday morning, there was bits of tree and surprisingly lots of toilet rolls on the verges, as well as a lot of gendarmes.(The illegals must have been throwing bog rolls at the trucks!)
At the port there were armed soldiers who searched the car and caravan. They were very polite and friendly- the lad who searched ours approved of our cases of wine in the boot!
A further check was carried out after check in by a security lady.
As a result check in was slower but we allowed an hour so no problems!
We also saw army vehicles at Eurotunnel when we visited Cité Europe on Friday.
Francois Hollande has stated that the camp will be cleared and migrants dispersed to proper camps for processing or deportation.
Good, I have a lot of sympathy for truck drivers and the people of Calais.

Just hijacking thread slightly-we returned from france via caen friday night and saw for the first time caravans opened and searched-but on the other side of security having already gone through border control so no hold ups. No complaints from us- our roof box and the underside of our galaxy was searched leaving the uk but that always hapens to us-we must look suspicious!!!
