With the Sterling falling against the Euro we are thinking of buying some Euros now for our trip next year as the exchange rate is £1 = €1.0869 from Sainsbury.
Some economists are predicting the sterling could drop a lot further, but then again these could be the same economists who predicted doom and gloom after Brexit.

It's up to you. Nobody knows, otherwise playing the currency game in the City wouldn't be such a well paid, high risk game!
I think all you can do is do what you feel is right, then not look at the rates anymore!
We've bought our Aus $ for Easter, as we are going on 1 April, which *could* be at around the time of Brexit starting, and any announcements seem to trigger a big slump in rates. But it's purely conjecture on our part. I was reasonably happy with the rate we got, and I'm no longer checking what the dollar is doing.
We've not even thought about ordering Euros for next summer, as by August it will either be better, or not. We aren't in a position to buy them now anyway, so will wait until nearer the time and then see.

Why worry about it. Unless you are going to carry wads of cash on you it won't make any difference. Personally I would rather risk any rise in cost of currancy than carry large sums with me.
Most people use their credit cards for fuel, campsite fees and food and you will simply get whatever the going rate is applicable at the time.

We were only thinking of £500 for the month as we found that sufficient spending money for us that last time we went over. We paid for the sites and fuel by debit card. I guess I am a born worrier and every bit helps! LOL!

Erm, surely this thread wouldn't exist if there wasn't some element of truth in what they predicted?

Given the hit you take on holding currency compared to spot rates anyway, for the time being unless you are convinced it will go a lot further it doesn't seem worth it IMO though

We're planning to go to Germany in December for the Xmas markets. We haven't even thought about buying Euros yet. It will cost what it costs. No sense in worrying.

I'll think about 2017 next Feb. or March.

I need to buy some more euros but keep putting it off... and then the rate keeps dropping... so I put it off longer :) I'll have to bite the bullet soon. I won't buy any euros for next year until the rate goes up, there's plenty of time yet.

I don't think Sterling will go much under 1€ in the next 6 months so on £500 it's really not going to matter that much. The difference might buy you a good lunch. Longer term is anyone's guess, depending how hard the B-word gets it could go down a lot more. On the other hand, I wouldn't expect the situation to get any better any time soon. The same applies to the dollar, of course. It's Sterling dropping, not the £ or the € going up. All things are relative.

Time to have bought a few 1000 € was in 2015 with € = 70p. Your exchange rate is poor even now Ian. Bank rate today is 1.18 & you will get that rate spending with fee free credit card. I'd forget about it until you go. Rate has actually improved today.

We have prepaid mastercards with euro balance on them,bought pre brexit so at a good rate! Hindsight being wonderful, should have put more on them?

With Germany being the only one holding up the Euro once we leave you have to ask how it's so high when you have the basket cases that are Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal and even France. By next year it could all have changed and not to do with the pound but with the Euro itself. Hang on and see what happens as Europe could implode by then.
