Hi All, hope you all had a good year and many adventures! I've found some old posts on this subject but just asking if anyone has had any recent experiences?
While we have been looking for ferries for next year, we have found the DFDS ferry from Newhaven to Dieppe. The times are good for us and it looks okay from what I can find but I was wondering if anyone used this service this year? I'll be totally honest, I didn't even know about this one so it may be good to have a change...
Thanks all

Went on it 2 years ago, to be honest it is just another ferry.Good points there was no traffic problems, that you can get in Dover. If it suits you go for it.

We did the late night one two years ago and if heading west it can work well if price is right. Got a good 3.5 hrs kip probably in a cabin and got an early start in France and pitched up early afternoon for an overnighter.
they come round and bang on cabins to wake everyone
Won't work for all but easy on and off at both ends and much less busy than big ports
Get a token for the coffee machine from the cafe well before ship nears dock (maybe as you get on) as big queues for coffee at 4 in morning!

The 2 ferries each have a single on off ramp. If you are in a standard family car you will be directed up a series of ramps to an upper deck. Your car cannot escape until the lower decks are cleared and with the current check every passport rule it will take a long time to get off the ferry.
From the ferry port you can either head straight into town, or byepass Dieppe and get onto the main road to Le Havre and beyond.
The ferries are clean and well appointed, the prices satisfactory, and the location convenient if you can reach it. Just make sure your car's cooling system can cope with a long traffic jam on the boat and towards passport control.

Cheers Mark, it's really helpful. It sounds like it's basic but clean and adequate. We went Portsmouth to Caen last time and that was good but very crowded as we'd picked the start of the Le Mans 24hr race weekend by mistake! there were some nice cars though :)

Used this for the Euros this year, although no cabins available for the way out. Same as everyone else, basic cabin, but gets you there, and was in central Paris by 9 am with a couple of hours kip, so can't complain.
