We're thinking of going into Belgium and Holland next summer and I'd also like to do the Dusseldorf and Koln area of Germany. Any recommendations for us? We have a motorhome and rely on cycling once pitched so nothing too remote! Two adults and two teenage kids. Thanks

Situated on the banks of the Rhine at Monheim am Rhein, outskirts of Dusseldorf. Not many touring spaces, but excellent site, great wc/shower facilities, and fantastic restaurant on site.
Bus stop outside entrance to site, good public transport links to Dusseldorf and Cologne.
Loads of time to think about next year, but for what it's worth, Earlier this year we stayed at Camping Berger in Rodenkirchen on the outskirts of Koln. Biggish site with bar & restaurant situated on the banks of the Rhein and is outside the "Emissions zone".
Looks to be good for cycling and good public transport to Koln, Bonn, Dusseldorf etc.,
Belgium - we stopped at the interesting town of Dinant - birthplace of Adolphe Sax. V good municipal site on banks or River Meuse. Easy walk/ride into town.
Large fort above town reached by cable car. Also river cruises & Leffe beer museum. Free WiFi in the whole area.
------------- Two drifters off to see the world.
I'm tired of reality, so I'm off to look for a good fantasy.

We've stayed at Camping Berger too, on a number of occasions, although the last time we stayed is a few years ago now and it was for the Xmas markets. However, I can confirm that there is a cyclepath all the way along the Rhine from the site into the centre of Cologne. We did it a number of times as the Xmas markets are good there. Not all that far and in summer it would be rather warmer weather than it was in the Decembers we were there!
