Has anyone ever used this??? Just need wifi for tablets and checking emails on phones for adults. Different kettle of fish for teenagers and their social media.

If you're camping, then many sites in France offer free WiFi - and so do Tourist Information Offices, MacDonalds, large supermarket malls, and many cafes. In small villages there may even be a 'bench' somewhere, with a WiFi symbol and you may see all the local 'yoof' gathering there to 'socialise' on their phones!

For about five years from 2009 to 2015 I used to work part-time 'from home' (three days a week) and that included working during our four to six weeks holidays in France - perhaps for one or two days a week. I don't think I paid for internet once during that time, so investigate sites you may be staying on before paying anything for Travel WiFi.

If you get a signal booster you can often sit on your pitch using the free wi-fi at the reception area of the campsite; or park in McDonald's and use their service without suffering the indignities of eating their food.

Many modern hypermarkets have very comfortable seating areas and free wifi.

Every tourist information office has free wi-fi.

There is no need to buy expensive dongles and roaming packages.

Thanks we have. The site we're staying on is charging 30E for the two weeks but only for one device. We've stayed there before and used the free WiFi at the bar but would like it on the pitch. Just thought we might be able to get it cheaper for multi gadgets .

If you are only going to France then why not have a look at one of these for the tablets. Great deal and worked very well for us last year.

Good deal, good idea, think it is a good buy, we have an open mifi and will buy one and pop it in there.
Assume you have used it, what is the coverage like? Would imagine in France and Spain it might be a bit patchy due to there rural nature.

We found it not too bad in most places and blooming dire in a couple

Most of the sites we stayed on had wifi but for the few that were poor or didn't have any at all we just used the 3 sim with no trouble.

Good to see that they are now covering Germany with the 'Feel At Home' scheme.

Wonder how Brexit will affect this???

Did you just use the three sim in a phone? I have used mine both in France and Germany but it does not allow tethering away from the UK. Thats a real nuisance because I like to create a hot spot for my laptop. I don`t want to stream 'stuff' just access emails and other work applications. The bigger screen of my laptop is so much easier to work on than the small one of a smart phone! :)

I used the sim in my ipad - got virgin for phone so don't use that for anything other than texts.

I only use my laptop when on a site with wifi.

Look at motorhomewifi, a brilliant wifi booster. If wifi at reception is free, this will pick it up on your pitch up to 100 m away. If you have to pay, you pay once and connect multiple devices . Had ours 3 yrs and used it a lot, best thing we ever bought.

Well SpaceX are saying that they plan to have there Satellite Internet system up and running by 2018.

The system is amazing, low cost internet that can be recieved anywhere in the world via an antenna the size of a pizza box.

Although I am not convinced that it will happen so soon, as SpaceX has the small matter of building 4,425 satellite's, and launching them all into space.

We have a signal booster, of a type which was recommended on here, I think by SGThomas. I've forgotten which make (??Realtek) and it's currently in our caravan in France. It was about £12.00 from Amazon.

I'm using a Three sim in a Huawei mifi. I've used it in France, all round Spain and the UK. I'm using it now as we're travelling. Look at Amazon for the sim deals, I recently got 24gb which lasts up to 24 months for about £25. Be aware, though, that you can only use it for 2 months continuous use abroad.
