We're going to Würzburg for 10 nights in August and need a hotel to stop off at around Cologne on the way down and the way back.
Need it to be relatively cheap, don't mind basic as have 3 kids and for some reason haven't been able to find a room that will take 5 in Germany so will need 2 rooms I'd think.
Main priority is that it has secure parking so we can keep our box trailer safe. It's an erde 122 with a greedy box on top so really not that big.
Our first choice, the Adagio, won't allow us to stay because of the trailer. Due to my arthritis I can't cope with setting up just for one night with the tent.
Any ideas?

I'm seeing several cheap hotel chains, Ibis Budget, B&B, Premier Classe in the triangle bounded by Autobahns 4 & 1 just off 10 Kreuz Koln West junction. These will be right on your route if you are approaching from the direction of the Belg/German border at Aachen.
The hotels will be contactable via their websites & they are out of town locations so parking is usually adequate.
Yes, despite being slagged by the snobs the idea of locating several budget hotels together in industrial areas adjacent to motorways is a good one. Easy for travellers who just want a bed for the night & an early start to reach. I've always found rooms clean & tidy with adequate parking for small trailers left hooked up to car.

Would you mind sharing the map you used, please? Found premier klasse and mercury, just trying to identify which ibis it is (have Accor Hotels loyalty points)

No idea what happened here. I tried to post a link to google maps. I'll try again. If it don't work put the hotel addresses in google maps or find the hotels on Ibis website. Map link.
Edit again. Links to google maps never seem to work very well. You will have to zoom in & find it.

If you use www.booking.com to find hotels in Cologne you can set the number of people to 5 and rooms to 1 and see what comes up for your dates. I've had a quick look and there are some apartments which sleep 5 for a very reasonable amount, but they may differ in price on the date you're travelling.
