My wife and I are thinking of spending 6 months during the winter at Camping Los Gallardos Spain and leaving our van in storage there during the summer.
Have any of you done this or know anyone who has done this. If so, could you please give us any information and advice that you think would be useful. Such as do's and don'ts.
Please also, let us know how the experience went and useful information on how to look after your caravan particularly with respect to weathering due to the heat.
Would very much appreciate your feedback.

I spent 5 weeks there, it is very rustic and really rather shabby. The one ablution block is sort of okay but gets shut for three hours during the day for cleaning although you would not think so. Drinking water is only available from reception but it is free and waste is dumped in a grate by the toilets. Washing up water is Luke warm from only one tap. Los Gallardos is all about the pitch you get and all the good pitches are occupied by long termers namely all year round stayers who sort of resent any short termers. They have a nice bar and bowls club, good Sunday dinners and Friday night fish and chips but nowt much else. The storage area floods badly, (as do a lot of the pitches available for short termers), there were caravans, motorhomes and RVs in there that clearly showed where the water had got during any rains, my advice, take it or leave it is go and find somewhere else to stay for your six months and store your caravan. Los Gallardos is a very run down site as far as touring sites go.
We had a think about this place, glad Kenny gave us his insight in to the place. There is a 10 star review of it on this site by a Frank Mellors who reviewed and has never been heard of again. By coincidence there is a Frances Mellors who lives in Los Gallardos. Yeah could be a coincidence..........
Think we will give it a wide berth.

I don't think anyone could take seriously a review that suggests the site has a unique and miraculous micro-climate - "It was raining everywhere else, but in Los Gallardos it was nothing but sun."
It also got a terrible review on tripadvisor.

It does actually have several positive reviews on Tripadvisor, but having read of some experiences, I would probably look elsewhere. It does make a difference whether you are on a pitch, or in a static, by the sounds of it.
