Can anyone out there please help!!
I need to buy a sat nav for use in Europe, it needs the usual things, i.e.
Length, hight, width. I've studied all the information on the net, but all the right ups are confusing. We had a snooper, but now thinking about
Buying a Avtex recommended by the Caravan club.

we have a Tomtom Camper version and it works very well, you can input the dimensions, weight etc of your unit.
Works all over Europe, we buy the traffic update i think its about £40 per year and it has saved us numerous times when there has been road diversions, heavy traffic, accidents etc
A standard GPS is all you should need. Much cheaper and for around £70 if you shop around you'll get a Garmin with lifetime free map updates and traffic info.
I got my Garmin Nuvi in Aldi a couple of years ago and update it regularly. Never let me down or got me in trouble. Use in conjunction with a map to confirm your chosen route suits.
I've I had a pro drive PD7 for 5years. It has free updates for 2 years then it is £15 for further updates ( I think another 2 years ), I have not updated in the last 3 years. It has taken me around France and Spain without any problems. If I don't know a campsite address I put in the nearest town then touch to find places around the cursor, when I see the site I touch on it and away I go.
I believe the latest version is the PD8.
I paid £84 which is about £17 a year.

I have an old 710 series TomTom and the Avtex Garmin caravan model.
The Garmin has a large 7" screen, is easy to enter details and seems to carry more info on the screen......but it is expensive.
