Anyone been to the area around the Quiberon Peninsula?
Been toying with the North or South Coast of Brittany and have decided to go South in the hope of better weather in late August/.

Pors Peron is a well run site but most Motorhome owners want somewhere closer to shops, village, and public transport than that one is - and even the site's own website says you really need a car. And it's100 miles from Quiberon !
As you probably realise the Quiberon peninsular is a long thin strip of land sticking out into the Baie de Quiberon. It's got a couple of towns and villages and the main town, Quiberon, at it's tip. There are some nice beaches and it's quite sleepy (but we were there in early June. It might be different in high season). It struck us as quite 'old fashioned' but in a very pleasant way.
The campsites are concentrated in the middle and the tip of the peninsular. A lot have access to or are near a beach.
We only stayed a few nights and felt we had 'done' the area. There would not have been enough to keep us for a whole holiday, but we do tend to move around a lot.
Although it's very near Carnac and the Gulf du Morbihan as it's a peninsular it can be a tedious drive to get anywhere beyond and back, especially if you are on the southern tip.
We have therefore usually stayed either in Carnac/La Trinité-sur-Mer or at Flower Camping Le Conleau near Vannes which is very central but may be a bit too near the town for you where it is easier to get to other parts of the area.
They claim that the Gulf of Morbihan has it's own micro climate that is 2 to 3 degrees warmer than the rest of Brittany and we have had some splendid weather there but we've also had some dull and rainy days. I really don't think you can guarantee the weather anywhere but I would say it is somewhat more reliable there than in, say, Finistere.
I'll second Flower Camping Ile de Conleau, we were meant to be staying for 3 nights but liked it so much we stayed for 7. It's 4km from Vannes so not too close to the town. Vannes is a lovely town. Campsite is just over the road from the Golfe de Morbihan, and a pleasant stroll through the woods to the small beach, a couple of very nice restaurants there.
We were there from 3rd September, weather was warm, not hot, some sun, some cloud.

We stayed outside La Trinite Sur Mer in 2015 - gorgeous little port which is 15mins walk from Camping de la plage and Camping de la Baie. you can easily cycle or a longer walk to Carnac too.
Lovely campsites, with their own restaurant and shop 5mins walk offsite (feels like a date :) ) and right on the beach.
We went end of June and the weather was gorgeous - too hot to do much some days.
We enjoyed Le Conleau very much. There is a free shuttle bus which stops right outside the campsite and drops you in the centre of town, it runs frequently, though you can also walk in. In summer, the nearby beach is full of families until 9 or even later, enjoying the natural swimming pool on the island. There are pitches on the campsite with a sea view, we had one!
On the same trip we then went to Quiberon, and stayed on the campsite by the aerodrome where we were entertained most days by the skydivers, though we weren't tempted to join them! Easy walk into town, and to the nearby beaches. Cheap wifi on the pitch.
Both these sites had covered pools, and were ACSI sites when we went.
We are planning to visit Brittany at the end of August for 2 weeks in our motorhome with our water crazy golden retriever. Can anyone recommend any sites near beaches which she would be allowed to swim at without a lead? Ideally we prefer the smaller quieter sites, we like walking and a half hour walk to a village or small town for the odd beer or to get to a bakery would be perfect.
