We usually transit through Paris on the journey from Calais to Bordeaux - car/box has been under 2 metres so was not affected by restricted height tunnels.

However, this year I will be towing a trailer which means bikes on the roof and overall height of around 2.5M. We will be going through Sunday AM, so traffic is not usually a problem.

I dislike taking the Rouen route, because I usually get lost.

I have been trying to find out about restricted height tunnels in Paris to plan the route which takes us out on the A10. The car satnav does not appear to have have a setting which considers height restrictions.

So, I'm looking for advice or a route planning website which considers height restrictions.

The restricted height tunnels are only on the A86 ring road on the west side of Paris.
The three ring roads on the east side of Paris - Peripherique, Super Peripherique (A3/A86) and Francilienne (A104/N104)- have no height restrictions. Try the middle one of those three.

If you are coming down A1 from Calais. Once you have passed under Charles DeGaulle airport turn off sat nav & look out for sign A10 Bordeaux. Keep following the Bordeaux signs. Takes you around the middle ring rd & right to A10. It's that simple & no tunnels.

On your way home. At end of A10 look out for signs A1 Lille to take same route back.

It's a boat trailer and no practical way to attach four bikes unfortunately. It also occasionally puts me in the wrong class going the Autoroute tolls.

Thanks for the advice guys - going via the east side of Paris makes sense. Not sure why the car satnav sent me down the west side and the height restricted tunnels.

Via Michelin web site gives the option for towing a caravan but I don't know if it takes height into account or just towing.

I managed to drive an artic truck with a 4mtre or higher trailer for about 40yrs without hitting a bridge. I find driving through France very easy because it is well signposted. I read maps & I follow signposts.
