We've booked our crossing from Plymouth to Santander. I'm planning on doing a South - North holiday (less of the North, we really do try and stay in the warmer areas of France). We have 4 weeks this year so quite an adventure.
We're looking for a campsite in Spain (Cantabria) that's about an hours drive off the ferry. Ideally as a stop over because we're docking at 1815. We want to head to San Sebastian but realise that it could be pushing things time-wise to find a pitch, so will head to San Seb the following day.
All the sites I'm looking at are either Spanish only (so I haven't a clue what they're saying) or they're larger company sites and only accept a 7 day minimum stay.
We are looking for a clean and lovely municipal where we can stretch our legs and get our heads down, before driving towards San Sebastian the next day.
All help gratefully received!

Sad you plan to 'flee' the north coast of Spain ... it's a fabulous area ... the Picos de Europa are unique, and the small towns and villages along the Cantabrian/Asturian coast are wonderful.
You will see several reviews of campsites we've used over the years ... we keep returning.
I'm more familiar with everything west of Santander ... only having used the east route when returning through France.
There is a good, though well used, site at Zarautz, which is just shy of San Sebastian ...
But, you should not bypass the opportunity to see the extraordinary Gughenheim Museum in Bilbao .... or wander some of the best taps bars in Spain in the old quarter of San Sebastian.
Kelper, sounds fab. To be honest, I'm happy to mooch around Spain for a bit.
We are ideally looking for a little village with a simple and quiet camp for an overnight stop off. Easy to drive along the coast the next day all the way to San Seb.
Never camped in the area but second what Kelper says about staying longer, it's a beautiful area. We stayed near the town of Potes. I've just googled and there's a campsite called Camping La Viorna that has good reviews and looks like it is in a fabulous location.

We did a similar trip last year & had our first stop off at Camping Playa El Regatón at Laredo - it was the perfect first night off the ferry campsite, less than an hour from Santander, nothing fancy, but clean & welcoming.
