I' m sure Francais will answer this one.
I'm pretty sure that my 80 cm dish wont get a signal for Astra 28.2 here ar Frontignan, southern France.Wifi is patch so no Film on TV.
My Comag box allows me to select a satellite, is there another satellite I can select that will give an English Language channel even just news?

If you really just want news then BBC radio 4 is easily obtained on the internet even with a poor wi fi signal .

We can listen to Radio 4 on Long Wave in most parts of France, on our normal car radio! It runs out of signal just south of Figeac on the road across to Rodez, but we can pick it up again further south!

You can get good reception from the German channels and if you search thru them you will find CNN and other English language news chanels

You will be able to pick up Sky News TV and some of the U.K. Radio stations but almost definatley no BBC and iTV Freesat etc, from Astra2 at 28.2 East with that 80cm.

Failing that, point your Dish to Astra 1 at 19.2 East Sky News TV is on there along with CNN and CNBC.

HotBird is another option at 13East like Astra1 good signal over the whole of France, from memory BBC World News TV is on there although only gives news about stuff outside of uk, CNN and CNBC are also on HotBird.

We use a 1m Dish and can get all the Freesat channels down in Frejus, although some days the signal drops, and we are left with just Sky News etc, which is fine for holiday TV anyway.

Thanks for the help,just wonder whether I could buy a 1m dish in France? I remember buying a smaller one here a few years ago when my old mesh dish was damaged, bought it from M Brico i think.

If your going for a 1m Dish get something decent, the cheaper 1m Dish's often only perform the same as a decent 80cm Dish.

Aluminium is better for satellite Dish's, you often find that the cheaper 1m Dish's are Steel.

We use a Gibertini 1m Aluminum solid Dish with Alloy LNB Holder (0PL100).

You can buy the Gibertini c/w Alloy LNB Holder, but they are almost impossible to source here in the UK, however the regular 1m Gibertini Dish can be found in the UK, and that comes with Plastic LNB Holder, you can order the Alloy LNB Holder for around £10 from Germany.

Thanks Francais, I will look into that when I get home.
Some good news, the site wifi had a fault and has been fixed so can watch tv in Film on.
Also , I managed to get 200 channels, all weird ones, quite a few in english and some with English movies.

Weird= Movies4Men, Bollywood channels, Catholic Channels, God Channel, Muslim Channel, Nigerian News, JML Shopping, Abu Dhabi , many news channels,TV plus more that I can't remember.
However, frequently very windy here, so dish moving in the wind.

That's it with Freesat reception in France, a 35cm Dish will be OK in Normandy, but down on the Cote d Azur a 1.2m Dish is required.

Let us know what the furthest point South was that your 80cm Dish worked for Freesat.

It's always useful to have Freesat reception reports detailing location in France and Dish size and make model used.

Extra info like receiver make model and LNB make used is also good info.

I have an 80cm dish and it picks up all the freeview channels brilliantly in Southerrn Germany (Black Forest/Freiburg).

I guess you meant Freesat channels not Freeview!

Southern Germany sits almost parallel to say central France, so I would imagine an 80cm Dish would be good for most of Germany.

Again it makes a nonsense of Freesat being carried on a FTA Spot-Beam, when from the get go, it should have been Soft Encrypted FTV, like what the French have done with there Francsat FTV satellite system which can easily be picked up here in the UK on just a 45cm Dish.

You will need a 100cm dish for Bavaria (been there), and even then it's sometimes hit and miss.
