We're finalising our summer holiday tent camping in France and I want to pre-book a hotel on the way down to the Agde area from our ferry over to Caen.
Ideally we want to do the majority of the driving on day 1 and get past Clermont Ferrand and be well on the way or even passed Milau.
The problem I am having is that there appears to be a lack of hotels of any description on the A75. We will be towing a trailer with 3 children (they will only be in the trailer if they don't behave 😁) so would want somewhere that has relatively secure parking and maybe a pool or something for the children to unwind.
Does anyone have any suggestions for hotels that would meet the bill and would allow us to book in advance or any other helpful tips?
All help is welcomed.
Thanks
Rob

There are two "Premier Classe" budget hotels at Clermont Ferrand, with a bit of luck they will have a "Campanile Restaurant " we're as a PC guest you get 15% discount of the evening meal.
Although personally to get to Agde, I would have gone via Dover-Dunkerque and used Eastern autoroute's, OK you would spend around £100 on tolls but would save over double that on the ferry crossing!
There is a budget hotel with secure parking at Issoire just past Clermont ferrand and 5 mins from the A75. There is a lake nearby for walks and maybe watersports, pubs and restaurants in the town and a very good muni campsite.

There are loads of hotels adjacent to the A75. From Caen it's a long journey to Millau - particularly towing a trailer and with three young children. I would say that Clermont Ferrand is about as far as you might expect to get, and even then you're likely to get there at a time when the hotel swimming pool may be closed.
You can use booking.com to find a hotel with a pool anywhere you select down the A75. One of them, at Chatel Guyon just north of Clermont Ferrand has a pool, good reviews at 9.1 and obviously can be booked. I just picked a random date but you can check others. Chatel Guyon Hotel Spa Thermalia
There are loads of others, and you'll find hotels at any of the towns and villages just off the A75 junctions. Booking.com is definitely the easiest way to find what you want, where you want.
Just to add, that at St Chely d'Apcher, south of Clermont Ferrand, there is a hotel literally at the side of the A75 - the Kyriad. I don't think I'd want to stay somewhere quite so near, unless the windows are triple glazed, but it would be convenient. It doesn't have a pool, though.
There are budget hotel chains around most of the junctions on any autoroute
Agree with Val, Caen to further than Millau is a long drag, we have used the Campanile at Issoire a couple of time, very handy just off the main road. 😀👍

Personally I wouldn't book anywhere because it means that you are committed to getting there by a certain time.
Bear in mind that you may be restricted to 90 kph if you are towing with some heavier vehicles and you would be hard pressed to make Milleau from Caen.

Not really DaveS1, with most of the budget hotels you can arrive anytime the same day, as entry is fully automated, we even arrived a day early once at a B&B, but that's another story!
Sorry, Francis, I didn't explain myself very well. What I meant is that I don't book because you are committed to getting to a certain place or area whereas I prefer to just stop as and when needed.
Never had a problem finding somewhere although to be fair don't travel in August.
