Looking to book a week in France in our motor home and have seen a couple of sites of interest. I would love to hear from anyone that has stopped at either or both of the sites. We are wanting to travel down towards the French Riviera stopping off at a few places on the way.
The sites I am interested in are The holiday Marina resort. I like the location and how close it is to the beach. However the few photos of camping pitches I have seen appear to be a dirt bowl?
The other is L'Etoile d'Argens. I would appreciate people's thoughts on these sites and preference. We are a family with 2 teenage children which may be of interest.

In southern France it's very very hot, and although pitches may start off grassy in spring, by late spring they are looking thin, and by summer there is no grass at all. You find the 'dust bowl' is so hard-packed that it doesn't actually cause problems.
You won't find grassy pitches, except on very few sites, in southern France.
We've been to Etoile d'Argens, but so many years ago that I'd hesitate to give information, but there are reviews from 2014 and before here. Reviews of Holiday Marina (which has a lot of static pitches and not many touring pitches) here.
When are you travelling, and any particular reason why you want to visit the busiest part of southern France? Traffic along that whole stretch of the coast can be a nightmare in summer...... and to me (even though we have friends who live not far from Port Grimaud) it isn't somewhere we would choose to go in peak season. There are other areas in France that your teenagers might enjoys more, especially if they don't enjoy sitting in traffic jams.
We have stayed up the road from the Etoile. The area is not trendy in itself, but a cycle ride from Frejus or St Raphael ( which is Blackpool on drugs and with sunshine)
Thank you for your replies. My son is the one wanting to visit this area with the intention of visiting Monaco. I understand it is a different side to France.

Is he a petrolhead? If so go to Le Mans instead and stay at the Les Castels Chateau de Chanteloup. A little piece of heaven!
In Le Mans you are not far from the Loire chateaux etc too and there are lots of activities for kids/teenagers in the area.
I saw a post on here recently where someone paid €48 for a club sandwich and 2 bottles of water at a café in Monaco .
Made me decide there and then to stick to the West Coast for this year's trip.
Maybe visit Monaco when the kids are no longer travelling with us ;)
------------- It's only an expensive hobby when it's parked on your Drive....use it, love it , live it.
We stayed at L'Etoile a couple of years ago (see my review). The site was great, and we had a couple of day's out at Nice and St Tropez by boat, but we're not ones for straying too far from base, so we didn't venture out every day. The only downside of the site (and this is being 'picky'), is that the pitches are arranged on individual avenues - which means that you only see your immediate neighbours, whereas we like to wander round chatting to people ! I have lots of photos of the site if you need to get a feel for it, get in touch if so and I can send you some over.

Gadgetman, if you want a beach holiday on that stretch of coast in peak season, then DKs suggestion is a good one. Take your Motorhome there and stay there. The coast road is a nightmare in July and August, so you won't be driving anywhere.
If you want to visit Monaco then choose a different site altogether - one which is close to the railway and go by train. With a car you can get to Monaco by motorway from Frejus and park in an expensive underground multi storey car park when you arrive. With a Motorhome you cannot.
Whichever you choose make your campsite reservation for August by Christmas.
