Hi lovely campers and caravanners,

Please could I ask for campsite recommendations anywhere between Geneva and Chamonix? I have a beautiful tent and 3 children to help put it up (14 and 2 x 10).

To be perfect, we'd like mountain views, not too far from mountain exploring in a cable car, a lake for the kids to swim in, not too busy, mostly french, a village (or at least a bakers') within walking distance for the kids to head out to collect breakfast, and somewhere close by where we can eat tartiflette. So not asking much...

I've seen a couple of places on here that sound good, but just want to make sure I haven't missed somewhere amazing.

Any good ideas of things to do that aren't too expensive would be fab too. (We're in Paris for 4 days in our first week away, then Geneva for 4 days where we're visiting CERN and the UN - this means we'll have spent a small fortune, so we're looking for cheapish mountain adventures).

Thank you for any help!

:) Doris

Camping La Colombiere

We stayed there approx. 4 years ago. Lovely site, see reviews. Owner is a blue badge guide in Geneva and he took us to places and described the history etc with another couple. Would definitely go back.

Thank you! I'll take a look. Like the idea of the blue badge guide.

If you would like to be closer to Chamonix then Camping les Domes de Miage at St Gervais les Bains is good and is virtually at the foot of Mont Blanc and has great views, or if you would like to be in Chamonix itself there are several sites there such as Camping Mer de Glace -they would give you easy access to the big cable cars there - which are spectacular but not cheap.

That's fab! Thank you. I saw Les Domes on here and it looked good so i think i might try there. 😊

The cable cars sound great too - I'll have a look for early booking discounts.

Thanks again everyone!
