First time I drove through France was in a very thirsty petrol Alfa Romeo (roof box on top) and was still getting 350+ from a tank, whilst 'making progress'. If I got 280 I'd be looking for holes in the tank!

Can't be bothered myself just fill up on the autoroute when travelling, who cares if it is 10 cents a litre or so at the supermarket, just ain't worth the time and hassle.
I think Bill Gates was once told that it was not worth his time to stop and pick up a $100 bill if he dropped one.
He replied that he most certainly would stop and pick it up.
I am in the fortunate position where a little bit more of less for fuel makes little difference to me, but I still would shop around.
I suppose it's to do with how we have been bought up and our attitude to money.
Bill Gates? How we was brought up? Attitude to money?
Dropped $100?
What are you banging on about?
If you want to swan around for cheap fuel, fine, but what Bill Gates and my upbringing has got to do with it is beyond me.
Pompous pillock.

When doing this route we stop at the Decathlon in Troyes. Nice easy road off the motorway. Nice clean toilets with showers, picnic and play area. There is quite often a dinner trailer serving good food, though pricey.
To get back on the motorway carry on round Troyes ring road and fill up with fuel at E leclerc.
We always fill up when off the autoroute, but don't hop on and off in order to fill up, but on our overnight stops when we don't have the caravan attached. If we had to fill up between overnights we wouldn't go off autoroute in order to save - but we wouldn't fill up completely on the autoroute, just put in enough to make sure we got to our destination with some fuel left in the tank.

I am entitled to express my opinion on this forum without being insulted. I was refering to my upbringing not yours.
I suggest if you have to resort to insults, you should go elsewhere
