So were booked to sail tomorrow evening. Caravan and 4 x 4. all booked as per previous years. BUT we've just decided to take the bikes on the roof of the car instead of on the front of the caravan for load weight reasons amongst others. Anyone know if need to declare the new height with BF? I'm thinking if push comes to shove we can take them off as we board and put them inside the van just for the crossing, but i'd rather not.
The caravan on the BF ticket says up to 2.6m.... and car up to 1.83. Now the car with bikes is just under 2.9.
Part of me thinks there's always lots of space above the van when we sail so it''ll be no problem, and is generally length that's more the issue. Part of me its is thinking heck. cant phone and ask as they're now closed.

My understanding is that they adjust the ceiling height to accommodate vehicles so would need to know. If you are on twitter, post on their page as I've always found them to be very quick to respond at all times of day and night!
Good luck :)

Thankyou for that. I tweeted them and have had a conversation....all sorted. Because we had a caravan booked it's not an issue.
