Hi all.
Im starting to plan next years holidays after not getting much this year.
I want to try to recreate part of my childhood and go to the french riviera. I remember as a teen going there as a "Eurocamper" with mum and dad etc and loved it.
When we go though I want to take the trailer and our own Outwell Norfolk Lake.

Now im thinking of getting 2.5 weeks off work to cover 2 weeks in the south and a slow drive north and south.

What I am not sure on though is given the extreme heat this year, is pre booking the site advisable?
I guess if you dont pre book, and its too hot you can always change the plans and go somewhere cooler.
But then if you dont pre book you run the risk of the good sites being full.

So to the question. Should you pre book a pitch, or just rock up and hope to find one?

But when? In April and May you can go to the Riviera without booking, June is maybe possible though a bit doubtful, but July and August completely out of the question. Book by January.

Depends when you are going, July/August definatley pe-book IMHO.

June should be OK, without booking, apart from late June, as that can be busy.

We do Frejus, which makes for a great base for visiting the Cote d Azur, and is not as mad as places further along that Eastern end of the Med.

We nearly always do a fortnight on the main campsite, and a couple of overnights to and from in "Premiere Classe" budget hotels.

So three weeks of work for me, although due to Mrs Francais work, we may only be able to do 12 nights on the main campsite next year grrr!

Our last 3 week blast to France was July 2015, so we have not been this year, hope to get there next year but keep getting curved balls comming my way.

Ah yes a good point.
We would be leaving for France about 10th July.

So I guess booking the site is required then.

Frejus would be high on my list of places to look at. I remember going there years ago.

Yep, Frejus is great, not quite the Blackpool in the sun, that some folk would have you believe.

The "Base Nature" is a real nice place to chill, great for bikes, and right on the beach, all day parking is peanuts.

The Ardeche was great to, but I so missed the beach, and my dail plunge into the med, fantastic on the oh so hot days.
