We are heading home via Caen on Friday, have used this aire on the A28 as a good stop off point lots of times before, but this year we are towing a sizeable trailer, and now looking at it with fresh eyes! I have tried to look at google maps to check out the parking options, but it's hard to make out. Does anyone have experience of stopping here with a trailer or caravan?
Not motorway aires. They are for all and usually have spaces put aside for caravans (not that that stops car drivers from using them). They also have "drive through" spaces for lorries. If in doubt, use these.
------------- Freedom is a light caravan and an open road.
We have not stayed at Aire de la Dentelle but we have stayed at Aire Pays d'Argentan a bit further north on the A88. We arrived at Caen at about 9.30 pm (French time) and at the Aire at about 11.00 pm. We have done this three times with no problems - even on a Sunday when the lorries all park up. On that occasion we just parked along the car bays and had very few neighbours through the night
Many people (including us) are very wary of using aires but we felt completely safe at this spot.
