As usual, it's a balancing act of time versus money. There are faster expensive routes (via France and Switzerland) and there are cheaper but slower routes ( via Belgium and Germany) and all of them mostly motorways. Which do you want?

Thanks .. will use slower route as in no hurry and it will be nice to stop in germany and visit old haunts again :)

OK, then for minimal tolls and vignettes perhaps it's Calais, Lille, Namur, Luxembourg, Stuttgart, Ulm, Fern Pass, innsbruck, Brenner Pass...but another option via Munich, Salzburg and Villach is a possible alternative . Take care.
