Normally once i land in France, i change to FRANCE on the sat nav, then enter the co-ordinates for the camp site. Its just occurred to me that actually changing countries on it should not be necessary. Am i right?

I suppose it depends on the model of satnav you've got; on our earlier TomTom we had to set it to the country we were in, but on our current TomTom it does it automatically without us having to set anything.
Thanks for the replies. It could be old and new in my case as well. Definitely had to do it on the old one or it didnt know where it was. Once found myself going down the A34 - in St Malo!(before i changed country)
I have stuck some french co-ordinates in now, and its ready for off. Don't think the old one would have worn it.

I've got an ancient Tom Tom (circa 2004) that's out of date now as maps can't be updated but we still take it to France with us. The only setting I change is miles into km, it recognises when we are in France and even beeps to remind us to drive on the right.
