It depends on whether you are going via Bordeaux or via Clermont Ferrand, whether the motorhomers want campsites or Motorhome Aires, and whether the car driver wants hotels or will be sleeping with the others. Can you give a bit more detail?

I'm interested in this thread , and since the OP has not replied to Berriow's questions , may I ask for myself ? We would be in a motor home and either or both routes , and stopovers would be appreciated , also sites in Benidorn itself , we'll be travelling June or september, thanks

The same reply is needed - do you want Campsites (if you have no toilet facilities on board) or are you happy with Aires en-route?
Campsites will not need booking in either June or September but Aires are usually easier to use.

Personally I would go down via Rouen / Le Mans / Tours / Limoges / Perpignan. It's a quieter road and is toll free Autoroute a lot of the way.
When we are looking for an overnight stop on a long route we usually identify the closest and furthest points we want to stop then identify campsites between them. That way - if I'm feeling tired we can stop and if I'm feeling OK them we press on a little further.
There are plenty of sites in the ACSI book which will give good discount if you're travelling in low season.

Phil, If you want to drive 350 miles from Calais on day one you can stop at St Amand Montrond, and a similar distance the next day will get you to the border at Le Boulou. There are reliable, trustworthy campsites at both places, and Motorhome Aires at each of them too. The third day will get you down to Benidorm but I am afraid I have no idea of campsites when you get there. Sorry.

But if you want to drive less or longer on each day then that is equally easy because campsites and Aires can be found in just about every village as you cross France and there is no need to decide in advance. Take care.

Sites in Alicante area Benidorm to consider :-

Camping Playa Paraíso Villajoyosa, Alicante, Spain From £9/night

Camping El Torres Villajoyosa, Alicante, Spain From £15/night

Camping Villamar Benidorm, Alicante, Spain From £20/night

These sites accept Tents, Caravans, and Motorhomes, and are popular.

Kind regards James

If you work out the cost of fuel and over night campsites, it may be cheaper or the same cost to get the ferry to Bilbao or Santander saving you a long trip. At least you get a couple extra days holiday as you are not driving.
If you join Brittany ferries Club Voyage you will save on your first trip. The bonus is that your friends can get 10% discount on the cost of the ferry fare excluding cabin.
