Hello, I've read through most reviews of campsites in this area but am still struggling to find one right for us. Has anybody stayed at La Rive recently that could comment on whether there is much noise at night or has anybody stayed at one in that area? Ideally we would like a campsite with activities during the day as we have two teens and a 3 year old but quiet at night. We definitely would like a pool large enough to swim in! We also need a large pitch for our trailer tent and pup tent. I also prefer separate sex toilets which seem to be a rare thing in that area. I'm not massively bothered exactly where as long as it is within 90 minutes drive from Bordeaux and not too far from the beach. We plan on staying in that area for about 10 days and then visit a campsite near to Puy Du Foy on the way back up so any recommendations there greatly received too!! Thanks as my head is now spinning! We did find a great looking site near the Biscarrosse lake but it only seems to take sunday-sunday bookings and that is no good for us which is a shame.

If there are lots going on in the day, sadly, that will probably mean lots going on at night too! Which if your on holiday is not always such a bad thing.
You could try Loree du BOis which is lovely and does have quieter pitches on the far side of the campsite

Thanks- the one at Hourtin? There are a few by the same name nearby. We like sites such as La Garangeoire or the Yelloh Ptit Bois in St Malo. These sites have plenty going on during the day but are very strict about noise at night. The Yelloh Lac de Biscarrosse would be good but has a lot of reviews complaining about noise at night

I think we stayed at La Breteche when we camped for Puy- it was a while ago. Simple enough site with municipal pool next door. Although it's only 5 mins away, you will still catch the traffic getting into Puy- try to leave as early as you can in the morning.

Also, if you want to see the Cinescene, you will need to book your tickets asap (possibly even now, as I am not sure when they open.) We went again last year, and booked them in early Jan, some dates had already sold out. It is well worth it.

Hi for many years we went to La Rive and saw it change and grow we didn’t camp but stayed in a mobile home and always booked one towards the back of the site and have to say we weren’t bothered by noise but then we tended to be up until about midnight. We started going when my youngest was 3 and the last time we went she was 16 always had great holidays lake great for all kinds of water sports and swimmming. Beaches great for surfing and bodyboarding. We tended to go last 2 weeks August as things were getting a bit quieter. I know it is not a site for everybody’s taste but suited us; always went with one or two other families so tended to socialise together and didn’t really do the entertainment although as they got older they enjoyed going!

Have a look at camping Le Cote at messages. Beautiful site. Clean, great pool. Quiet and very well managed. Or my favourite is camping Le Teday at Le Moutchic on lac lacanau and within a few miles of Lacanau ocean.
Unsure how quiet they are in main season though as usually go late Aug early sept.

Thanks for the La Breteche recommendation. It looks good. Tickets for Puy du Foy now booked! Le Teday looks very nice but lacking a pool. We are also now wondering about Le Village Western if anybody has stayed there recently?
