Has anyone stayed here recently? We are looking for a site relatively close to Bordeaux and as a family of 5 with two teens and one 4 year old this site looks like it may suit us. However I can't see a camping plan or work out the size of the pitches. If anyone has stayed and knows what the pitches are like that would be good. I've looked at the reviews but there aren't many.
I have posted before but if anyone has any other recommendations in that area we'd be grateful. Most sites seem absolutely huge with perhaps a bit too much going on and small pitches. The other option is heading up to the Royan area but we have been there before and like to try something different. A pool is essential. Thanks.

Hi,

we went there in August 2016. There wasn't a pitch map and I'd read some reviews re small pitches. When I booked we asked for a larger pitch, quiet, away from road and pool. We were happy with the pitch we were given although some of the pitches to the side of the pool (opposite side to reception and entrance) were bigger. It is a lovely site with plenty to do. Lake is great for beach, swimming and water sports and if you take or hire bikes some lovely routes direct from site around lake. Hope that helps

Village du Lac Camping, Bordeaux is an ACSI site just off the ring road.

The site is set amongst trees and lakes. Pitches are small though and when wet soon gets muddy.

We used to go there for holidays until the children grew up always had a fantastic time. Can’t comment too much about pitch size as we used to have a mobile home, we used to go for the later half of August sometimes into the beginning of September depending on when we needed to get back to school and definitely quieter at those times. As mention big site but lots of facilities and the lake and it’s beach are great for swimming and all types of water sports, we used to have camp days and then days out exploring and to the beach so used to do any shopping on those days so didn’t need to use the car everyday and you can cycle from the campsite to the village of Sanquient. Plenty to do for the teens and lots of them around so you probably won’t see much of them! Wouldn’t suit everybody but we great holidays there and indoor pool was a bonus if the weather wasn’t as good.

Thanks, a bit of a mixed reply! I have just priced it up and it is very expensive. I only added on the kids on my first try. I hadn't realised it didn't automatically include two adults as most sites do. Any other (slightly cheaper!) suggestions? We need a large pitch as we have a big trailer tent with annexe and sun canopy and an extra pup tent. We also need to travel the busiest time - my husband and son are driving down as they break up first and the two girls and I are flying to Bordeaux at the end of July. Thanks again.

There are plenty of campsites in that area to suit all budgets as have driven past loadswhen we have been in the area but as usual didn’t take much notice of names have a look on the campsite search section or look at all the camping companies brochures ie canvas/eurocamp and then talk to any sites direct that you like the look of.

We stayed here in summer 2016. Our pitch was massive.
