Hi, I'm thinking of getting a scooter to take abroad next winter but am having problems finding an insurer that gives a minimum of 6 months fully comp. EU cover ( full EU cover would be even better ) Any info would be gratefully received as there are a number of us who have the same problem.

Be careful with bennets they have the worst complaints history of the bike insurers according to fca/fos figures....I used to be with them, and have a lot of experince with their poor service....once bitten!
You are going to need to speak to a broker. I am with iam surety, but you have to speak to them to get quotes as they find policy to fit your needs. Surf the net for a few brokers, then call them and also look on a few forums for others experience and check the financial ombudsman for their complaints history.
You might struggle with 6+ months though and if they do offer it, you are likely to need to pay an additional premium
Also, just a thought....check your travel insurance when taking a bike/scooter.....most will be invalid unless you are riding the bike to enter the country of travel. I have seen are few people caught by this when towing bike abroad and then using it, and then having a minor incident and finding travel insurance useless!

How much is the scooter worth? By law UK insurance has to include minimum cover ie third party only for Europe so if scooter is insured for UK use then you will be legal to ride in Europe which should be good enough if scooter is older & not worth much.
Just take out a years insurance and cancel when you return. Probably work out cheaper as short term insurance tends to be expensive. Same with travel insurance if your going abroad more than once a year your cheaper with an annual multi trip policy.
I have had bike insurance with Devitt for many years i had 1 bike with them got a quote for a second identicle bike 25% more so i used bennetts for it and subsequent bikes however bennets started doubling their premium and i had to negotiate each policy eventually moved all bikes back to Devitt which saved about £200 per bike perhaps worth giving them a call

Hi Brian,
i never paid more than £70 for last 5 years on my vmax?
And my Honda big one is £60 both with bennets.
It is cheaper having them insured seperate, cost more for the pair, yet you can only ride one at a time.
when the cost of the wide glide insurance was going to be £298 i moved it to Devitt for £110 i moved the softail custom also when it was due for a similar cost sportster was also around £110 we seem to be able to ride 2 at a time as both me and the wife are on both big bikes sportster was kept as a spare but was re homed in the summer
