please post some photos of the bridge when you get back. The idea of my going over it makes me feel quit queasy, but I can certainly appreciate and admire the engineering that went onto it.

I wont be going over it, thought makes me ill. The bridge near Trafford Centre (M60) is bad enough. Made mistake of going over that bridge on way to Le Havre once...thought we were going to die!
I am not too good with heights myself, but the bridge at Millau was easy driving. The sides of the bridge are built up, probably to deter drivers from admiring the view, rather than concentrating on the road. Although you can see through the gaps a little, I have had no feelings of vertigo in several crossings. It is far more impressive to view the bridge from the valley below than to cross it!

You really don't get any sense of how high you are when you drive across. The long-distance views you get of the town through the perspex sides don't allow you to look 'down'. I suppose if you get worked up about the thought of it, then it may be scary, but there really is nothing to be worried about what you might see whilst driving across.
Only from underneath (and really only from directly underneath) do you get any sense of just how high it is.
