We’re taking our van over to Ireland in May and hope to tour from Dublin - down the east - up the west coasts to about Galway and should take about 3 -4 weeks.
Have noted all recommended sites on here - thanks to all reviewers - really useful!
Has anyone used the Safenightsireland.com site and paid for their list of motorhome stopovers? Any good?
Also would welcome any tips on how to survive our irish adventure!
Thanks in anticipation
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Don't know about Safenights, we have been all over Ireland in a caravan at various times. Be prepared for high prices for food and drink (and sites), stock up well when you find a supermarket. Cashpoints can be few and far between.
If you intend to go round the Ring of Kerry, go anticlockwise.
Go to lidl or aldi for best prices. Most petrol stations will have an ATM. Some car parks will have a height barrier due to certain members of a community wanting to overnight.
Don't trust sat nav. It might take you up a narrow boreen wih grass growing up the middle. Mrs Bonce beat me to the Ring of Kerry advice.
Enjoy. You will meet lots of other motorhomes. Oh yeah, lots of campsites charge for showers but nearly all have a kitchen.
