Usual story, motorbikes all my life, been around France virtually every year, mixture of camping and cheap hotels. This year I fancy revsiting the Voges, High Jura's, cross briefly into the Italian Alps, then the Ardeche, Cervennes, Limousin, Brenne, the Perche and aim back to the UK within 7-10 days. Normally by myself or sometimes with my mate who can't get this year. Not too bothered when I set off or for that matter, where I go. Could even be tempted to the Nurburgring just for a look. Just wondered anyone going that way back end of August?

Are you looking for a biking companion? Does age matter? We've have a friend (70 but very fit and a walker) who regularly used to travel down to Spain, through France on his motorbike, but hasn't done in the last couple of years, and was telling us how much he missed it. I could mention your post to him and see if he's interested?

HiYa, I'll be 67 this year, not really into walking and I don't have room for a pillion. Just thought there may be a like minded person out there. I am happy to be mentioned to your friend. I'll post some photo's later this week so you get my idea. Thankyou.

i used to do a european bike tour every summer, i used to travel with various friends and one time, the first big trip i did i invited people from the TRX850 forum that i was using. this was because i had a TRX850 at the time.

so one mate was on his FZR600 and 3 of us were on TRX850s.

the guy with the FZR was a long standing mate from college but the other 2 complete strangers.

we had a great time but unfortunately one of the guys ended up in grasse hospitel due to crashing his bike. we got him sorted out until he could be repatriated (he sustained a badly lascerated leg, he didnt die) on guy stayed with him until he was on his flight home.

we also met up with some french TRX850 owners.

anyway if you want company posting ona forum can work.

ADV rider is good and i am sure you will find like minded individuals on there.

http://advrider.com/index.php?forums/ride-reports-epic-rides.99/

i now have 2 young sons and enjoy my caravan with them now but still take my tent camping on my motorbike but only in the UK and ireland.i dont get so much holiday from work so i have to choose carfully what to do with my days off.

there will be a rally for Aprilia Caponords in LLandovery 11-13 may this year i will try to attend.

there is often an edventure bike rally in Llandovrey and also one in swansea associated with Touratech.i beleieve there is one also in somerset where people like Nick Saunders give presentations etc...

good luck with it.

if i can help with destinations etc... just let me know.

if i had the time i would go back to spain, some of the best riding and camping i have experienced.

You might have more joy on a more specialist biking/touring forum.

hiYa, Thanks for the reply. I have never motorcycle camped in the UK because I think people think strange things about an old man on a motorbike. In France you just blend in and get along fine. The French facilities are generally excellent and the out of season prices are brilliant. Have a look at some photo's on www.nito.co.uk and you will see a receipt for a site which was é4.20. It was clean, good showers, toilets, communal fridge etc and just so friendly. Enough, I am rattling on. Best wishes

The one thing that keeps me going throughout the winter is planning my biking holiday to Europe.

I couldn't go last year because of family issues but will be off to Austria in September.

I'm not into riding hundred of miles a day from country to country, I like to head to a destination and explore the area.
The trips get better every time we go, hopefully, this years will be the best yet.

Where are you headed? We do the same as you ....spend a week exploring somewhere. No more than 4 hours saddle time a day, takeit gently.
