I had a plan to camp around Germany in my campervan. It has subsequently expired so I'm going to pickup a tent on Monday and use my car for the trip.
I've booked two weeks for the trip.
I've no idea about German campsites and can't seem to find a good book with them listed if such a thing exists? Finding campsites for tents seems way harder than finding places to park the campervan.
I've used campsites in the UK in my campervan and have a big sites guide to UK campsites, but never tented. So since I don't really have a solid plan is it likely that if I turn up without warning I'll be able to get a pitch?
I'm going in May
Any help would be really handy.
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Nearly all campsites accept tents on the Continent. There are loads of reviews of German campsites on this website so I would suggest using the campsite search function to get a flavour. Germany is a large country so if you can narrow down where you would like to visit contributors here maybe able to offer some suggestions.
Thanks. I did email a site, but got no response, but I'll give them a ring to try and book something for my first day as I'm traveling from the calais to the black forest in one go.
I've found my sat nav knows about sites and I've got a rough plan of sites.
I just wasn't sure about booking in advance as I don't have an exact plan as I've never turned up hoping to be let in.
I've ordered some mobile data encase I have to phone before hand.
Thanks for the links though I'll take a good look.
In the end I did the trip and during this time it was easy to get a pitch. Turn up and pay especially for one night or two. It seemed a lot of people were doing the same and it was good fun.
I just got back from Germany, the Moselle, Black Forest, Bodensee and near Forgensee in Camper Van. Only place that was full was Lindau on the Bodensee. Found a stopover high up in hills that night. Parked in Lindau the next next in the Motorhome car park that I hadn't realised allowed overnighting.
