We too like a small cove like beach as opposed to the great long ones, the peninsula around Begmeil however has both, plus powdery soft white sands. we stay at Camping Kerolland (2*) but there are a variety of swishier sites there too- but it sounds like you like a basic camping experience. Claude ( yes really!) the owner of Kerolland is a typically Breton chap ( strong silent type- but welcoming too)The town is currently going through a bit of a spruce-up after some down time- but it is small-ish with a little bit of everything you need

lots to recommend it for those wanting a chilled , french camping holiday.

Order all placed for you!!You can walk all the way up to La Foret Fouesnant/ Cap Coz along the inland coast and around to Mousterlin on the seaward coast. Plus there are ferry services to Corncarneau opposite and the beautiful achipeligo of Les isles des glenan. We have been going for 22years and still struggle to beat it ( our children 12 & 18 love it too!). google earth it...I often do Bon Vacances.
