Our Gross train weight is over 3.5 tonnes. We're travelling to both France and Germany. I've read that the 80/90 stickers are only compulsory for French drivers. Does anybody on here, who like is is limited to 80/90 km/h have the stickers, or do you not bother?
Any advice welcome.

I stuck them on if only to let other drivers know why I am going so slowly and being overtaken by mini - cars towing at 80mph

Come July, we'll all be limited to 80kph on France's single carriageway roads.

i too am limited to 90kph since my GTW is something like 4850kg. i wasnt aware there was a need for the stickers so have never bothered with them.
i have seen a guy towing a trialer with an old peugeot 205 in france. i was trying to catch him up, driving our company Navara (not towing), doing 95 mph and he was till getting away from me.
i must admit i ususlly hover just below 60mph on the autoroute as i would here, i have not had a problem yet.

I can't remember which of the travel websites it was that recommended using them. They did state that the displaying the stickers was only a legal requirement for French vehicles, but hinted it was maybe one less reason to give the gendarmes a reason to stop them if you weren't displaying them.
I have to admit I didn't understand the limit in previous years, and stayed at the under 3500 towing limits, without any issues.
I've never driven in Germany, don't know if the rules are much different to France, I guess I ought to check.
Thanks for all your help everyone.

Germany has 80kph limit on autobahns towing, you can apply for an outfit examination and issue of 100kph sticker at a TUV test centre,at a cost.
Sticking with the trucks at 90kph probably ok!
We stick to round 60mph on autoroutes where safe and 50 on ordinary roads, just like here!

Cheers Dave. I'm not going far into Germany, and once there hoping not to use the car at all, apart from maybe local shopping trips. Going to make as much use of the Konus card as possible.
