Spent a week on the way out to Germany at a small site near the border. It's in ACSI under Beesel, called Petrushoeve. Excellent site (but no dogs). Near the motorway but quiet. Good large pitches although you do have to park away from pitch.
On the way back we stayed at a site a bit further south, called Sangershoeve at a place called Ohe-en-Laak, near Echt. Again the car wasn't allowed on pitch but both sites very Dutch, very friendly and in really interesting places for cycling and walking. Maastricht by train from Echt is about 15 euros return. Great cycling everywhere. If you are into cycling then the Netherlands is the place to go.We always make a point of stopping somewhere different in the Netherlands and for a few days even if en route to Germany or beyond.

Why were you so pleased there were no Brits on site? The only time I have ever had trouble abroad has been with ignorant Dutch families (although the vast majority have been fine). Brits on sites in the UK can be problematic but those that travel abroad are as well behaved as any other European campers.
That's a terrible statement to make imho.

The main reason we like going to sites where there are no Brits is that my wife suffers from anxiety and this sometimes takes the form of a social phobia. She is very nervous of strangers and hates it when people talk to her. That's much less likely when there are no Brits on site.

Although the Dutch are very friendly and as a rule speak excellent English she did not feel any stress during our stay.

The other reason is that the only time we have experienced difficulties on site abroad is with British families who don't understand the ethos of campsites where loud drunken behaviour is not tolerated.

One other thing to add about the Netherlands is the price of fuel. While diesel was about the same price as at home, unleaded petrol is about €1.70 per litre. Fortunately this year we were in our diesel so no nasty shocks. If you drive a petrol better fill up in Belgium !

I too used the no brits tag line in a positive manner.

I will qualify it as no British cultural reference points and I like that.
I could not buy UK newspapers, get fish and chips, and none of the bars were called the Rovers Return. The influence of popular British culture has not penetrated Dutch society in any great depth, I salute the difference. Most of the restaurants and shops did not have English menu or signage. Our site did not have a website version in English.
Politeness and community responsibility is alive and well, considerate parking and road manners were observed at all times.

We off on our 7th summer trip to Netherlands in a few weeks. We always use the Ardoer sites and agree it's rare to bump into other British campers. We love the Ardoer sites and they are always super quality. We really cannot understand why its not more popular with the Brits

Agree with all of this. Gutted I missed most of our short trip to Paardekreek 2 years ago with sunstroke as I loved the place.

Can’t speak for campsites as we have never stayed on one, but we have Dutch friends in the Limburg region. I can only say how gorgeous it is and not flat like the rest of Holland. It goes with out saying how warm and friendly the Dutch people are too.
