Well that's the end of my hope that I can return from my holiday weighing the same as when we leave these shores.
It's the almond ones that make me go weak at the knees. In fact anything with almond. Bought a beautiful almond tart from the boulangerie near the church in Vinsobres in June. That lasted about 30 seconds.

We ate at the bistro in the village the other day. The plat du jour was the most pork looking chicken I’ve ever seen (suspect some loss in translation there) with apricot purée, some sort of squash purée, ratatouille, a terrine type thing, mash and garlic and herby veg. 11 euros. Was delicious and absolutely nothing I’d have picked off a menu. The house wine was great and the desserts to die for!

I am thinking the sun has got to you guys. It’s a thread about the heatwave, not the microwave 😀
I feel like I’ve been microwaved at the moment Oxter! It’s scorchio tonight. We sat on the pool terrace earlier listening to a storm rumble it’s way up the valley from Ventoux, and we got about three raindrops. Still 30 degrees here, although the wind has picked up a bit so hoping it drops soon or it’ll be another sticky night,
It was 39.degrees here in the Aveyron when we arrived on site around 2.30. Now it's cloudy, with some storm clouds just passed us by, and it's just pleasantly warm. Hopefully sleep might be a bit easier tonight.
No, 23 euros here tonight! Tomorrow in the field by the gite our family are renting for a week then the municipal Kelper mentioned in another thread, along the river Cele.
And we now have the most wonderful sunset!

We like it so much we are staying on ... daughter and boyfriend coming out in 10 days time ... so we will end up having been here for five weeks!
Thats the longest we have ever stayed at any campsite ... and will make for cheaper camping costs ... mind you, we'll probably make it up on meals out and more wine!
To get back o thread ... was still in the mid thirties, in the shade, but much cooler on the river.
The forecast is that on Wednesday the heat will break with a series of storms and them temps will drop to the twenties ... no doubt happier for many.
Try getting a site in the UK for that money in high season.
It’s a rip-off over here. No one has ever satisfactory explained the difference, especially on club sites which are member owned and allegedly not for profit. And with few of the facilities of French sites and extortionate WiFi.
Enjoy the weather lucky people. We are not returning this year - other plans but hope to be weather lucky early next year. 2019 forecast?

It is a sign of old age. earlier this year we arrived at a site for 3 days (we thought) and left 41 days later.

Some of us don’t have any choice as are still young enough to have kids at school.
We aren’t all silver retirees, you know!
Don’t knock it. Most of us were in that boat at one time.
But it is great when you can swan off in low season and get the summer off to an early start and a late finish.
Wasn’t that great in May / early June this year though but no one will remember that - just the great summer of 2018 🌞 ☀️

But that’s because it was cheap and the weather in most of France was poor. But mainly because it was cheap🙄
