It really is as easy as this. We enjoy it, the vets in general are absolutely lovely. Even better, the last one we visited told us about this great dog friendly beach that was also people friendly and very pretty to sit on, down on the cote d'azur.

I would like to add that you would be well advised to have a mobile telephone number or two and the vehicle registration number on the puppy's identity tag just in case you get separated at least someone can telephone you. No good just having your home contact details around pups neck.
I have been taking our dogs abroad for several years and although I speak no French or Spanish we have never had a problem at a Vets. Most speak enough English. Just check the passport details whilst still at the vets to make sure all is correct.
Check and double check all the details that the vet puts into your dogs passport. They gave me a hard time on my return as the vet had put time into date bit and date into time bit,Didn't think they were going to let us travel but relented at the last moment.
Depending on the time and where you travel to but it is worthwhile taking a tick remover and some rubbing alcohol just in case the little un picks up a tick.

And if you travel with a cat don't worry! You need a valid passport, up todate rabies injections, but you don't need to see a vet in France. I'm not sure quite why because cats can pick up ticks, and worms just like dogs!!

So did we until we took our cat for her 'Vet visit' before returning home. The Vet, who spoke good English, told it that it wasn't required for cats but rang DEFRA to check. You do need a passport, microchip and rabies jabs but (certainly for cats) tbere is no need for the Vet appointment. We've now travelled with our cat, in amd out of France, a dozen times or more without a problem.
