Several years ago we intended to stay at Gorges d'Aveyron, but It's one of the few sites where we left after a look around. We didn't like the pitches, the fact that the pool.was outside the site and the clients already in occupation, who seemed to all be fat beer swilling football supporters, including the children.
We have just come back from Flowers Camping Gorges de L'Aveyron (not got round to review yet - I will!) We thought it was a beautiful site(must have changed since you went Val!) It's a small, Family friendly site, pool is on site next to a bar/restaurant, large pitches (we had a riverside pitch) and the toilets were kept spotless. The beautiful town of Saint Antonin Noble Val is within walking distance (20 mins)and there are many other lovely villages nearby. I would recommend it!
Sounds like it's changed. I remember the pitches being very dark and some of the available ones would have been very difficult to get on with a caravan. They were also very 'muddy' and rutted.
The access to the swimming pool was opposite the rather busy car park, and right after going out of the narrowish entrance opposite reception. I didn't feel that it was safe for adults, let alone children. There was no access to the pool from inside the site at that time.
The problem is that being put off once, we're not likely to go back for a second try.
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
