Hi, Can anyone give me a rough idea of how much sites cost in the south of France. I'm planning on a 14 night stay next July/Aug somewhere near Frejus with the family and caravan. I know it varies per site just looking for a ball park figure. I've tried on line but I can't get any figures from the sites for next year.

Look at the costs for this year and add on a couple of euros per night.
Viamichelin will work out petrol and toll costs for the journey.
Food etc is up to you.

Welcome to UKCS.

Try looking at ACSI camping card website. If you are staying outwith August you will be able to find plenty sites around €19 per night. August will be much dearer unless you go to municipal sites.

Looking at Flower camping Frejus, prior to 25/8 the guide price is 46 euro a night. With ACSI card after 25/8 15 Euro a night so if you plan your holiday the last 2 weeks in August there are some good savings to be made.
If you decide to just bomb it down the toll motorway it will cost about 200 euro for the return trip but as has been said via Michelin will give an accurate cost for this.
If you decided to go to the Languadoc area of the med which is just a bit further round the coast you could travel a lot of your journey off toll and save yourselves a lot of money. The above costs are based on this years pricing.

Rich, in high season, in the Provence/Cote d'Azur area you can stay on an inland municipal site such as Camping Saint Roch at Collobrieres (inland from La Lavandou) for around twenty euros or sometimes less, or a five star site on the beach will cost sixty or seventy euros and even upwards from there. There is everything in between and it will depend on dates too. The last couple of weeks in August prices tend to come down. Mid-July to mid-August is the most expensive period. Only by trawling around the net, or using the search on this forum can you say what sort of site will suit you.

For the cheapest site check out the Camping Municpals website:

http://www.camping-municipal.org/provence-camping-municipal.htm

With an ACSI card you can find a site like De Vaudois at Roquebrune for just 13 euros per night (two adults, pitch, car/caravan/motorhome/tent, inc electricity from 25th August onwards). You could combine a first week at the site standard tariff (33.50 euros or 28 euros, plus supplements of 7 euros or 4.20 euros per child, depending on exact dates), then a week with an ACSI Card (child supplements still apply) and bring down the price substantially - and still be back in time for the children to go back to school.

But, of course, it all depends what sort of site you're looking for.

I've just done 18 nights with 2 adults and 2 children, a few sites for stopovers on the way down and back up and 12 nights in Millau. Used some Tesco vouchers to cover the tunnel costs on way out (but not all) and ferry to come home. Overall its cost about £2,800 or £156 per night.

We don’t spend that much in two months, but we go outwith high season and use ACSI Camping Card for sites around €17/19 per night. Barbecue most nights and cycling most days. Tesco Vouchers for return Tunnel, fuel, tolls and the odd meal out and a few admissions.
It can be as dear or cheap as you choose, but in high season it’s dearer of course. After early / mid July until the last week of August, expect to pay considerably more per night unless you choose municipal sites, many of which are lovely and very affordable.
Here’s an ACSI site we use as an exampleSite

We’ve just booked 12 days in Sainte-Marie Campsite that’s within this forum, this cost about £160, our ferry cost £200 flexi and we took breakdown insurance and personal insurance with that too, for when we get over to France, I booked a hotel £58 which we’ll arrive at about 1am to have a nap before finishing our journey down, we’re travelling from Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

And also relevant to the cost is how long are you going to be in the South for.
Bear in mind it is probably 3 days there and 3 back you may only be on site for 8 days.

Very surprised this yr how early ACSI cards were accepted. Its usually just last couple of days of holidays. This yr it would have been 8! Always go away last 2 wks Aug, so not sure what's changed. Not sure if its the region or something else.

Never bothered with ACSI before but wish I had this yr, would have saved us quite a lot of money!

This year we were on a site in the Vercors which accepted the ACSI card from the 18th August onwards - just 13 euros!

We've almost always holidayed the last two weeks in August.and found sites which accepted the card and/or Camping Cheques.
